About the Role

• The Executive Director of MDCC is responsible for the overall management of MDCC services to support MDCC ability to operate efficiently by ensuring that all programs have safe and healthy environments.

• The Executive Director of MDCC will work with the Maryland Deaf Community Center Board members to provide direction and strategic planning. Operating in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the MDCC Board members.

• The Executive Director of MDCC supervises ASL Coordinator who is responsible for ASL instructors and classes

• Establish, promote and oversee the success of the American Sign Language classes

• Recruitment and supervision of MDCC volunteers and staff, marketing to and recruitment of members, and community outreach

• Review and analyze monthly financial and statistical reports to assess the budget status and to initiate preventative measures if any problems appear to be predicated

• Work with like-minded organizations in the community to foster collaboration

• In conjunction with stakeholders, lead the planning of long and short-term goals and program improvement


• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; four or more years’ experience in management with direct supervision of multiple levels of a diversified workforce; will have accomplishments in leadership of staff development, fund raising, program planning and innovation, budget development and management of fiscal control systems

• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the Deaf Community

• Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships; Possess excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills to problem solve, plus excellent organization skills to multi-task; Supervise facility usage and maintenance of the facility to ensure a bright, clean, and functional environment

• Ability to commute:Frederick, MD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

• Must obtain a criminal background check

• A passion for fostering high-profile external partnerships

• Ability to work cohesively within the MDCC structure of best practices, policies, and standard procedures and to engage with MDCC program leaders as valued partners

• Experience working with the senior and diversity population

• 4 or more years of experience in community relations, sales, program development, and management

• Experience working with program development

• Must have experience in ongoing monitoring, budget management, and program management

• Excellent computer skills

About the Maryland Deaf Community Center

Maryland Deaf Community Center serves as a center for resources, services and community for over 1.2 million Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents. MDCC aims to build Maryland's first Deaf center in Frederick and the new facility will feature meeting and community spaces tailored to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities.
